The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Attended a free early preview of this movie, was kinda convenient cos I would have went to watch this movie anyway even if I didn't get the free tickets, being the super big SF fan boy that I am, haha.

I have never really read the book before, only got a few glimpses during my past numerous visits to the bookstore. All I knew was that it has a wacky sense of humour mixed with big dozes of crazy imagination. I mean, planet factory? I would have never thought of that! Seriously!

Ok, back to the movie..

Stepping into the cinema, I wasn't really sure what to expect from this movie other than good cinematic fun, and that was exactly what I got after coming out of the cinema.

The movie might be a bit slow and boring at some points when I couldn't follow what the characters are saying or trying to joke about, but there were moments when I would be genuinely humoured or affected sentimentally, which were usually the parts regarding love, but maybe its just me though, haha! Well, what can I say, I'm a soft-hearted guy :-P

And I must mention the cast, for I'm rather fond of them, especially the guy who plays Arthur and the girl who plays the love interest of Arthur (sorry can't recall her character name!).

I took an instant liking towards the actor that plays Arthur, cos he reminds me of Tom Hanks, with their similiar qualities like good looking (to me at least :-)), charismatic, comical-and-yet-still-able-to-look-cute face, a sense of innocence and playfulness (hope I'm using the right words, lol).

As for the cute female lead, she actually reminds me of Meg Ryan and Sean Young, such sweet looking and full of youthful energy.

The rest of the casts, other than the robot guy getting slightly annoying sometimes with his neverending depression, are quite ok and fun to watch.

If I can get the chance to watch this movie again, I would gladly go ahead and do so, if not for some of its awe-inspiring scenes of wonders in the imaginary universe and politically correct dialogs, then for the cute actor who plays Arthur! And yes, I gotta have the DVD!
